CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia (October 25, 2010) – Meddius takes another step forward in its mission to simplify the sharing of mission-critical healthcare information among applications with the launch of a new Deep Integration solution. Targeted to its independent software vendor (ISV) partners, this solution aims to increase revenue opportunities for ISVs and drive further value to end-customer hospitals.

As a component of the Meddius Solution, the Deep Integration service works in concert with the Meddius Integration Platform. Data is extracted from closed or legacy HIT systems that lack standards compliance and is then delivered to ISV applications, where it can be converted into cost- and life-saving information.

Traditionally, data contained in closed HIT systems had been cost-prohibitive to extract and difficult to use, resulting in lost opportunities and stifling the capabilities of clinical and financial applications. With Deep Integration, Meddius unlocks this data and delivers it in real-time (or simulated real-time) allowing ISVs to implement their data-driven products in virtually any hospital environment.

“When clinical applications have access to more data, we all win,” according to Ryan Sean Adams, Director of Business Development at Meddius. “Legacy platforms and expensive vendor fees no longer get in the way. With Deep Integration, Meddius solves the last-mile problem faced by ISVs.”

Meddius’s first deployment of Deep Integration moved into production in early October and involves data extraction from a Cerner Classic PathNet laboratory system in a 450-bed academic hospital to a remotely hosted ISV application. Future Deep Integration deployments are already scheduled and involve both McKesson and Eclipsys legacy systems.

“We’re building a playbook of experience and technology that simplifies the implementation process, no matter the vendor system,” Adams continued. “ISVs need the ability to sell their product anywhere, not just in health systems with perfectly structured HL7 data. Deep Integration gets them there.”
